The goals

The research area focuses on the mechanisms of functional recovery of patients with cardiovascular disease, the benefits brought by exercise on the cardiovascular system, and the role of exercise in the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, exploring new therapeutic areas both pharmacological and physical in different types of settings.

Area interests

The main lines of research are in the following areas:

  1. Development of rehabilitation models in patients with recent acute cardiovascular event.
  2. Innovative prevention/control and health promotion systems, with a specific interest in rehabilitation telemedicine systems: implementation and validation of telemonitoring, teleassistance and telerehabilitation systems ;
  3. Organizational and management models of disabilities in rehabilitation: implementation of “Integrated Care” models of chronic disease management in the community setting.
  4. Integration of different exercise modalities to personalize the patient’s rehabilitation pathway;
  5. Innovative drug therapies and devices in treating patients for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease;
  6. Identification of new biomarkers and their validation as outcome indicators in ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, and heart failure;
  7. Search for new educational pathways in the areas of lifestyle and therapeutic compliance;
  8. Innovative organizational models for continuity of care: telemonitoring, telerehabilitation.
