Particularly active is translational research, which finds one of its fundamental pillars in drug trials. Research in the clinical setting aims to identify and verify the impairment of other organs and apparatuses in the course of disease and to implement guidelines through clinical trials aimed at validating rehabilitation protocols, agreed upon with scientific societies.
Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders
The social impact of Parkinson’s disease, which is estimated to affect 1 percent of the population over 65 years of age, and with increasing relevance in the lower age groups (30-60), leads to continued research both in increasing the pathophysiological knowledge of the disease and in refining the therapeutic, pharmacological, and rehabilitative approaches with a view to improving the quality of life of these patients.
The research group carries out projects related to the diagnostic, clinico-pharmacological, psychological and rehabilitation areas in both Parkinson’s disease and atypical parkinsonisms.
Clinical Research
Our Center is involved in the most relevant international clinical trials of new drugs for Parkinson’s Disease and Parkinsonisms. He also conducts numerous research projects and epidemiological/observational studies aimed at understanding specific aspects of the Disease. Our activities provide opportunities for patients to be involved in trials and to actively participate in research on these diseases.
