Dolores Limongi is a biologist, specializing in Microbiology and Virology, with a PhD in Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases. In addition, he is Associate Professor in MED/07 Microbiology and Medical Microbiology at San Raffaele Telematic University.

He is a Member of the Italian Society of Microbiology.

Former researcher at George Mason University (Virginia, USA) and the National Institute of Health.

He is currently head of the IRCCS San Raffaele Chronic Degenerative Disease Microbiology Research Laboratory and the IRCCS San Raffaele Microbiology Laboratory accredited within the regional CoroNet network.

He is responsible for research projects, accepted for funding on the basis of competitive calls that include peer review.

He has authored papers published in the national and international scientific literature in high-impact journals.

Research activity is mainly focused on the following topics:

study of microorganism-host interactions, with emphasis on the identification of intracellular factors involved in the control of viral replication and inflammatory response, as potential targets for innovative therapeutic strategies;
Identification and characterization of new natural and synthetic compounds with antimicrobial activity; study of relationships between different microorganisms in the pathogenesis of mixed infections;
Study of the mechanisms involved in the determination of antimicrobial drug sensitivity/resistance and identification of the role of microbial agents in the pathogenesis of chronic degenerative diseases.
