The care pathway

In his or her course of care, the patient is followed by amultidisciplinary team consisting of neurological physicians, radiologists, neuropsychologists, physical therapists epr cognitive rehabilitation and occupational therapy, and neurophysiology technicians.

The Center offers scheduled neurological examinations aimed at investigating history and cognitive-behavioral disorders with the goal of establishing an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. For assessment of functional, cognitive and behavioral aspects, batteries of neuropsychological tests are performed using standardized assessments to detect an ongoing neurocognitive disorder or to detect a possible risk of developing dementia in the future.
If needed, the patient can be referred for in-depth diagnostics with advanced neuroimaging techniques, such as 3-tesla MRI, and neurophysiology, through standard or high-density electroencephalography examinations to study brain connectivity.

Research

The Center is home to intensive scientific research in the field of dementia and provides free participation in national and international research projects for early screening of cognitive decline (European AI-MIND project).
For the treatment of an early-stage cognitive disorder, in addition to the more targeted drug therapies, cognitive rehabilitation treatments can also be carried out using innovative techniques employing computerized programs, immersive virtual reality systems, and such as transcranial magnetic pulse, shock wave, and focused ultrasound stimulation.
