Diabetology

The diabetes outpatient clinic follows two lines:

  • Implement the best possible general and cardiovascular prevention strategy by checking the predisposition to diabetes (insulin resistance and/or hyperglycemia) of people, with family members who have the disease and have difficulty maintaining a good body weight
  • Assess the degree of metabolic compensation of diabetes already in place and the possible occurrence of the chronic complications of the disease to establish the individually most appropriate dietary and/or pharmacological treatment, with a view to full integration between different medical and professional specialties and in the context of an increasingly personalized therapeutic approach that meets current criteria for long-term safety and efficacy.

Suitable for

See the specialist when:

  • You have a family history of diabetes and are gaining weight inexplicably
  • During pregnancy you were diagnosed with diabetes but then, having found that everything seemed to be back to normal, you did not have any more targeted checkups
  • Pimples and fuzz have appeared and your menstrual cycles are changing
  • You are in menopause and have noticed that your waistline is growing
  • Your fasting blood sugar is repeatedly exceeding 100 mg/dL.

You have just been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus:

  • No one has ever properly explained to you how to feed yourself and why
  • You always follow the same therapy but you didn’t quite understand why
  • It’s been a long time since you’ve had eye fundus checks, heart checks, kidney function checks
  • You are convinced that you have no problems just because you have no particular symptoms.

Did you know that diabetes is mostly silent and when a sudden problem appears, it is too late to implement prevention?
