The diabetes outpatient clinic follows two lines:
- Implement the best possible general and cardiovascular prevention strategy by checking the predisposition to diabetes (insulin resistance and/or hyperglycemia) of people, with family members who have the disease and have difficulty maintaining a good body weight
- Assess the degree of metabolic compensation of diabetes already in place and the possible occurrence of the chronic complications of the disease to establish the individually most appropriate dietary and/or pharmacological treatment, with a view to full integration between different medical and professional specialties and in the context of an increasingly personalized therapeutic approach that meets current criteria for long-term safety and efficacy.
