The structure

The RSA of San Nicandro Garganico, accredited with the Regional Health System, was established in the ancient medieval village overlooking the lakes of Lesina and Varano.

It covers an area of more than 4 thousand square meters and has 40 beds organized into two cores. The rooms are equipped with two beds and every comfort. An entire core of 20 beds is dedicated to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Spacious and cozy rooms for occupational and recreational activities meet the needs of the guest and his or her family. The Alzheimer’s Core and Alzheimer’s Garden operate under accreditation with the Regional Health System.

A multidisciplinary team of selected and qualified staff, constantly updated through continuing education, ensures that high levels of quality care are maintained. Social and health care intervention is dictated by the unique characteristics of each guest and in safeguarding full respect for human dignity, faith, needs, interests and privacy of each person.
Focusing on the person and not the disease is the organization’s strength and is expressed through targeted and individualized interventions.

Development and management of health care activities

The demographic evolution of the Apulian population has seen a prompt institutional response of integrating the health care network with an innovative offer of residential social and health services through the activation of seven Residenze Sanitarie Assistenziali (RSAs) throughout the region.

Management of the three RSAs has been entrusted to the company Development and Management of Health Care Activities, whose Mission is encapsulated in a single phrase “Adding life to years and not just years to life.”

The RSAs guarantee medical, nursing and rehabilitation care according to the indications provided by the Region’s accreditation criteria, in addition to rehabilitation care and daytime animative activities according to precise Standardization Models whose application results and out as are subject to periodic qualitative and quantitative analysis. The taking in charge of each Guest takes place, after the reception, through the computerized compilation of the social-health file, a multidimensional document integrated by the different social, health and rehabilitation skills, which includes the Individualized Care Plan ( PAI ) and allows to record over time all the clinical-functional and psycho-social changes occurring, also with the participation of the Guest where possible and his Family.
